
Halkidiki honored the Remembrance Day of the Macedonian Struggle
With particular splendor and emotion, Halkidiki honored the Macedonian Struggle Remembrance Day this year, with the central events taking place in Polygyros.
The program began on Sunday morning with a doxology at the Metropolitan Church of Agios Nikolaos, followed by a speech with historical content about the Struggle.
The culmination of the commemorative events took place at the Macedonian Fighters Monument, in the precincts of the Administrative Building, where a memorial service was held and wreaths were laid by representatives of the political, military and local authorities, as well as by representatives of associations.
Official Statements
The events were attended by a number of representatives of institutions, including MP Apostolos Panas, Deputy Governor of Halkidiki Katerina Zografou and Mayor of Polygyros Giorgos Emmanouil.
MP Ap. Panas, representing the Hellenic Parliament, emphasized that the Macedonian Struggle is a “reminder of the responsibility we all have towards our homeland and history.”
