Italy’s RAI Features Halkidiki in Dedicated Episode of Linea Verde
Italian state broadcaster RAI is placing Halkidiki in the international spotlight with a dedicated episode of its flagship travel program, Linea Verde, airing Sunday, May 4 at 12:15pm on RAIUNO.
The episode marks the first time Linea Verde has devoted an entire segment to a Greek destination, offering viewers a rich, on-location exploration of Halkidiki’s gastronomy, heritage, and natural beauty.
With a viewership of over 3.5 million per episode – and international broadcast through RAI Italia – the show presents a significant opportunity for global exposure.
Filmed between April 4 and 13, the production was led by a 14-member RAI team and coordinated by Eleni Sarikosta, public relations representative of the Halkidiki Tourism Organization (HTO) in Italy. Sarikosta played a key role in facilitating the project as part of HTO’s ongoing efforts to expand into international markets.
The episode follows three central themes: authentic local gastronomy, highlighting regional products and recipes; the area’s rich historical and spiritual heritage; and Halkidiki’s striking natural landscapes.
Beyond media visibility, the collaboration reflects Halkidiki’s deepening ties with the Italian market.
In 2025, the number of direct weekly flights from Italy to Thessaloniki – the main gateway to Halkidiki – is expected to rise to 25, connecting six cities. This increased air connectivity supports HTO’s outward-facing strategy and positions the region for sustained tourism growth.
RAI’s Linea Verde has been a staple of Italian television for over 40 years and remains one of the network’s most respected travel programs. Each broadcast reaches up to 26 percent of Italy’s total viewership and is widely watched across Latin America, the United States, Asia, Africa, Australia, and Europe via RAI’s international network.
According to the HTO, the feature not only strengthens Halkidiki’s profile in Italy but also elevates its standing as an emerging destination for global travelers.
